R2.20 a wash...here's how

Last week I heard that prices for everything were increasing: petrol prices, courier costs (YIKES), tutoring fees, food, and air (just kidding).

I had a panic and thought I should give up on this business.  Then I remembered why I ended up switching to these products in the first place: the offering of major cost savings while still getting an eco, gentle, effective product.

When it comes to washing powder, you already know it’s not just about the price on the bucket (although I have seen buckets that cost at least 50% more than ours).

It’s really about how much you use per wash, how long it lasts, and whether it works.

Here’s where this powder is different

Our version is a concentrated enzyme powder, so you use less per load without compromising on performance. The enzymes do the heavy lifting.

As a guide:

  • You'll use around 5g per kg of dry laundry
  • Which is often significantly less than standard detergents
  • A 7kg load of washing will use about 35g of laundry powder
  • A 5kg bucket gives you roughly ±140 washes

At R307.32 for 5kg, that works out to around:
±R2.20 per wash for everyday laundry

For more heavily soiled loads, you may need to use slightly more, depending on the level of dirt and staining.

Where the real savings come in

This powder works effectively in cold or low-temperature washes, which helps reduce electricity use over time.

Cycle length matters!

Enzymes work best when they have enough time and movement (aka agitation) to do their job.

That usually means:

  • choosing a longer cycle
  • washing at around 30°C
  • avoiding quick washes where possible

Give the enzymes the time they need to digest the soils on your laundry and you'll see the difference.

Oxygen bleach built in (one less product to buy)

This laundry powder already includes oxygen bleach in the formula.

That means you don’t need to:

  • buy a separate oxygen bleach product
  • add anything extra to your wash
  • manage multiple products for different types of loads

It’s already working as part of the wash, helping to:

  • lift tougher stains
  • whiten whites
  • stay safe on colours (without chlorine bleach)

The result is

  • Lower cost per wash
  • Less product used over time
  • Lower energy use
  • Clean clothes

If you’re looking for a simple way to reduce monthly costs without compromising on results, this is one of the easiest places to start at only R2.20 a wash!!
